My capsule wardrobe pieces or ‘my uniform’ as I often call it have proven invaluable to me during lockdown. I also thought many of you may have had a wardrobe detox or sort out during lockdown? Now needing some advice on how to start building your own capsule wardrobe. Longtime followers will know I have done this type of series before and they always proved popular. So, I thought I would get us back on track with a few new ideas.
As it is spring/summer we will concentrate on a capsule wardrobe for those seasons and come September I will do a Autumn/Winter one (if you like of course).
I have a very edited wardrobe (small), I like to wear pieces over and over again, season after season, and purchase items that will transcend the trend. So, I don’t mind saving and investing.
The item I have most of in my wardrobe is shirts and blouses. They have to be super versatile and not be a one hit wonder. White shirts and blouses are a staple and many of you will know I have a penchant for a frill or a ruffle. Try to invest in brands such as Isabel Marant, Ba&sh, Claudie Pierlot, Sandro or if you are looking for budget try of course Zara or La Redoute for that French like look …. this is such a dupe for the Isabel Marant Tedy blouse. I do love a pale blue shirt (I have this one that I totally recommend) plus a denim shirt is a must. I have an inexpensive H&M denim shirt, but would love to upgrade it to the J Crew everyday chambray shirt …. love the vintage feel and look of it. Another, thing I personal want/wish for myself is a navy silk (or silk like) shirt I love this one and this one is such a classic with 30% off too.
Here are a few of my favourite shirts and blouses about, with a few pairs of jeans to team them with. The modern shape for jeans is a slim straight rather than a skinny, pairs I recommend are these, these, I have heard great things about these and if you want to invest in premium denim, these.
Style Tip; For spring/summer wear your jeans grazing the ankle (don’t be afraid to chop them yourself to your perfect length, which will give that raw edge finish)
